Junior Academy

Broadsword Junior Academy at Charlbury Bowls Club
Bowlers of all ages from age seven are welcome. Juniors meet on Saturdays at 10.30am, and at 4.30pm on Thursdays during term time.  During the winter they play Short-Mat bowls and in the summer they play Lawn Green bowls.  We have a summer school during school holidays. All our coaches are fully vetted and with level 1 coaching qualification from Coach Bowls.
We have an extensive range of bespoke junior equipment including sets of Junior Bowls for ages c. 7 to 11, and small size bowls for ages c. 9 and upwards. Our coaches make the sessions exciting and challenging, developing skills in a fun environment,
• self-discipline
• team building
• confidence
• awareness and enjoyment
• technical skills development
All coaches are trained to Level 1 and all coaches and assistants are DBS vetted. To try out bowls at Charlbury simply use the 'contact us' section above. All interested in the sport have six free sessions. We can provide all the equipment you need to get you started - you just need a pair of flat-soled shoes like trainers.

Four Charlbury players in the England Under-21 team to play Wales on 26 March 2023. Congratulations Eleanor Brain, Dyllan England, Roman Kopinski, and flag-bearer Freddie Hergt.

Eleanor Brain became Oxfordshire Under-18 Champion at the age of 12 in November 2021, qualifying the national finals.

She narrowly won the title, narrowly beating Freddie Hergt, another Charlbury junior.

Charlbury Bowls Club is a registered Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) with HMRC that allows us certain tax benefits. All profits must be reinvested in the club. We hold a Club Premises LIcence for the sale of alcohol and musical performance, and take out Temporary Event Notices with West Oxfordshire District Council for licensed events outside the scope of our premises licence. We have our own constitution that is compliant with both CASC and licensing requirements.
