Short-Mat Bowls is played indoors from October to March where we have two lanes of 45 feet. The basic rules are similar to outdoor but clearly some variation is needed and these can readily be picked up at practice. Mondays and Thursdays are the normal roll-up evenings when the club is open at 6.30pm, with start at 7.00pm. We also have a roll-up on Friday afternoons starting at 2pm.
We enter three teams in the West Oxfordshire Division of the
Oxfordshire Short-Mat Bowls League
with each team consisting of two rinks - 4 players in each rink. Most games are played on Tuesdays starting at 7.15pm. More players than the eight needed for any match are registered for each team and everyone gets playing time. Teams are selected at the beginning of the season as we have to register individuals for one or other of our teams. Friendly matches are normally played on a Sunday with two sessions of two rinks.
In addition, we enter two teams in the Oxfordshire Afternoon League which is a triples competition. Players can enter the National Competitions and County Competitions in singles, pairs, triples, and fours. And, of course, we have our own Club competitions.
